Hundreds of cartoons later, 10 well-known cartoonists are back in the U.S after a week-long USO tour overseas. They traveled by helicopter and plane, reaching more than 1,600 troops in Germany, Kuwait and Iraq.

They are: Mike Peters ("Mother Goose and Grimm"),  MAD magazine artist Tom Richmond, retired naval captain Jeff Bacon of "Broadside Cartoons" and the Military Times, Stephan Pastis ("Pearls Before Swine"), cartoonist-designer Bruce Higdon, Rick Kirkman ("Baby Blues"), political cartoonist Chip Bok and National Cartoonists Society president Jeff Keane ("Family Circus"). Also on the USO tour were political cartoonist Michael Ramirez and "Doonesbury's" Garry Trudeau.

The Washington Post reported on their return and Richmond kept a blog chronicling the laughs and heartfelt appreciation.
