Rhode Island Chief Justice

Chief Justice Frank J. Williams (ret.) of the Rhode Island Supreme Court, served in the United States Army for nearly five years, rising to the rank of captain. His service included patrolling the then East / West German border and as an infantry advisor in Vietnam. Chief Justice Williams received more than a dozen decorations, including the Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman's Badge and, from the Republic of Vietnam, The Gallantry Cross with Silver Star for Valor. He is the co-founder of The Lincoln Forum, which meets annually in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, for presentations to enhance the study of Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War (www.thelincolnforum.org). Chief Justice Williams currently serves as Chief Justice of the United States Court of Military Commission Review to consider appeals from military tribunals held in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
